Where Love Gathered: Madam Chia’s Family Wish Day

Madam Chia He Yang has always found her greatest joy in being surrounded by family, especially in the easy laughter and long conversations shared with her three sisters. Since her illness, such gatherings have become fewer, making each moment together even more precious.

On her wish day, her sisters and extended family gathered not just to celebrate, but simply to be together again. Flowers were lovingly presented to Madam Chia and her sisters, and small keychain trinkets shaped like her favourite games, casino machines and mahjong tiles, were shared with everyone. These brought smiles and fond memories all around.

True to every family gathering, food became the heart of the day. A spread of Madam Chia’s favourite dishes filled the table, and everyone ate with joy, conversation flowing as naturally as ever.

The laughter, intimate moments, and shared love were tenderly captured by photographer Alvin Lee and compiled into a keepsake album for Madam Chia. Her wish was referred to Ambulance Wish Singapore by Medical Social Worker Vincent Soh from the Singapore Cancer Society, and was helmed by Lead Wish Granter Jill Chua Liang Choo, who was joined by fellow volunteers Chua Shanshan, Annie Tan Yi Kiang, Genevieve Lee Jie Yin, Ng Shi Rui, and Sylvia Tan Kim Lian.
