Heather Yang Carmichael

Heather served on the Board of the United World College South East Asia (UWCSEA) from 2014 – 2025. UWCSEA is the largest international school in the world with nearly 6,000 students from K-12. During her tenure, she chaired the Education and Talent Committee and sat on the Committee of Chairs (Remunerations Committee), the Finance and Infrastructure Committee, and the Audit and Risk Committee.
Heather was the Chief Operating Officer of Global Centre for Maritime Decarbonisation (GCMD), a non-profit which aims to help the maritime industry eliminate greenhouse gas emissions by shaping standards, deploying solutions, financing projects, and fostering collaboration across sectors. In this capacity, she oversaw the financial, legal, talent, administrative, and technology aspects of the company.
Prior to GCMD, Heather worked as the Director of Human Resources for Promontory Financial Group Australasia, an IBM Company. She managed human resource efforts for Promontory across the South East Asian, Australian/New Zealand, and sub-Saharan African regions.
Heather graduated magna cum laude with an A.B. from Princeton University. She is the President of the Princeton Alumni Association of Singapore.
