Top of the World: Granting a Colourful Family Wish at Gardens by the Bay

What matters most at life’s threshold is the profound need to be surrounded by love and familiarity. This was beautifully embodied in the wish of Mdm Siti Samsiah, who longed for a special family day out at Gardens by the Bay. This desire for shared, joyful moments is the essence of wish granting.

On a glorious August day, all 20 family members waited excitedly for Mdm Siti to arrive. The sight of her arrival, with each family member coming forward to softly kiss her hand in a profound show of love and respect, was a beautiful start to this memorable wish experience.

A Radiant Welcome and The Bonds of Family

The family’s love shone through in every detail. One niece wore a botanic-themed dress to blend with the plants, and youngest son Fauzi’s family arrived dressed in Mdm Siti’s favourite colour, blue. The care was evident, with her grandson carrying the spare oxygen tank, her daughter-in-law applying a fever patch, and her oldest son, Alfie, ensuring Mum had a spare sweater for the cool Flower Dome.

The Ambulance Wish Singapore (AWS) volunteers, Kit Mun and Darran, along with the designated photographer, ensured a seamless visit. The excitement was palpable, especially as Mdm Siti entered the Flower Dome for the first time. The multi-sensory exhibition of Claude Monet’s works coincided perfectly with the day, setting a beautiful scene of colour and light. Mdm Siti’s joyful smiles, alongside those of her husband, confirmed the Gardens were the right venue.

Cherished Moments and a Joyful Finale

Whether stopping by a beautiful curved arch or an exhibit of colourful blooms, the family paused for photos; Mdm Siti truly looked like a celebrity in their midst. After an hour or more, the visit continued outdoors where members of Yellow Ribbon were performing. The band gamely extended their set by one more song at Darran’s request, delighting everyone with the infectious joy of The Carpenter’s ‘Top of the World‘.

The day concluded with a smooth ride home on a specially chartered van, followed by Mdm Siti’s favourite tea-time treat: fish and chips. Ambulance Wish Singapore thanks Mdm Siti and her family for the opportunity to be part of this enjoyable outing and to witness the close bonds and tender love they showered her with.
