Uncle Sam’s Family Wish at Universal Studios Singapore

Mr Tan Soon Cheng, affectionately known as Uncle Sam, held a simple yet profound wish—to spend quality time with his wife and two children.

After being diagnosed with Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma, he reflected on how work had often kept him from the moments that mattered most. His heartfelt desire was to create beautiful memories with his family through a day of fun at Universal Studios Singapore (USS) and a relaxing staycation.

Creating Lasting Memories Together

Our Ambulance Wish Singapore team worked closely with Uncle Sam to design a meaningful experience centered on connection and joy. Beyond the excitement of USS, volunteers arranged for a photographer to capture candid moments of the family together—a cherished gift they could look back on for years to come. They also made sure to include a simple but meaningful meal of his favourite fish soup, a personal touch that brought comfort and familiarity to the special day.

To make the staycation even more memorable, volunteers prepared a surprise photobooth in the hotel room, complete with printed photos of the family’s past memories displayed around the space. This thoughtful setup invited laughter and reminiscing, turning the room into a personal gallery of love and shared experiences.

A Meaningful Day Filled with Love

Despite facing fatigue, Uncle Sam joined wholeheartedly in the day’s activities, savoring every moment with his loved ones. Though he returned to the hospice earlier than planned, the joy of the day remained undiminished. His family carried with them an unforgettable experience—full of laughter, closeness, and the simple happiness of being together.

Ambulance Wish Singapore was honoured to help fulfil Uncle Sam’s wish. This experience reminded us of all that time with family is a precious gift, and even a single day can leave a lasting legacy of love.
