One of the most humbling moments volunteering with Ambulance Wish Singapore is witnessing the power of simple wishes—wishes that hold the strength of family bonds, joy, and togetherness. We had the privilege of fulfilling the wish of Mdm Noridah, who is in the end stages of renal failure, to visit Bird Paradise with her loving family.
A special shoutout to Bird Paradise for the incredible tour, and especially to our tour guides Ari and Rachel, for their informative sharing and lively interaction throughout the journey. When we reached out to Mdm Noridah and her daughter about this dream, their eyes lit up at the thought of creating a special day together.
On the day of the trip, there sat Mdm Noridah at the entrance of Bird Paradise—radiant, eager, and ready to explore with her family by her side. Despite the blazing sun, her energy never faltered. The warmth of her family’s love, their laughter, and the joy of simply being together gave her strength and light throughout the entire journey.
It was heartwarming to see how united this family was, each member taking care of one another. Watching Mdm Noridah’s grandson tenderly look after his younger siblings during the tour was a beautiful reminder of how family can be a pillar of love and strength.
We also took a quiet moment to visit their home for a simple lunch and heartfelt conversations about the day. Their gratitude and warmth reminded us why we do what we do—sometimes, it’s not the grand gestures but the shared moments, quiet laughter, and tender connections that truly matter.
By the end of the day, it became clear: sometimes, a wish isn’t about the destination but about the joy and togetherness shared along the journey. Mdm Noridah’s wish was more than a trip; it was about creating a day that brought happiness to her family and herself. And in fulfilling it, we got to share that joy, too.
Thank you, Mdm Noridah, for allowing us to be part of this memory. A simple wish, but a story full of love.
