On 6 July 2025, Mdm Koh and her family departed their home with AWS volunteer, Caral, to their special weekend at Hotel Michael on the island of Sentosa. Earlier that day, team members Eric, Matthew, Wei Ling, and Eunice, had already decorated their room with cheerful touches, setting the atmosphere for a warm welcome. A surprise birthday party for Mdm Koh’s younger daughter also awaited — complete with cake, matching family T-shirts, and personalised gifts for everyone. Their delight and happiness filled the room. As holidays were no longer easy due to Mdm Koh’s and the girls’ medical conditions, this staycation was an exciting ‘trip’ for the family.
Simple Pleasures
That evening, they sat down to a specially curated Thai dinner with dishes catered to the family’s dietary needs. A special highlight: Mdm Koh was delighted to be served red ruby, a Thai dessert she hadn’t had “in a long time”. The thoughtful gesture brought a contented smile to her face.

The next day, the family enjoyed a VIP experience at Universal Studios Singapore where they were greeted by their favourite characters. From thrilling rides to lively shows, they laughed, explored, and soaked in every magical moment of their ‘vacation’.

As the family checked out, Mdm Koh’s daughter wrote, “It had been a truly amazing and special time at the hotel and USS”. A beautiful staycation of connection and cherished memories — a wish truly and joyfully fulfilled.
