Home and Heart: Granting a Lunar New Year Wish for Mother and Daughter

The familiar apartment that Ms Kwan Yu Ling shared with her 75-year-old mother blossomed into a vibrant celebration space, thanks to Ambulance Wish Singapore (AWS) volunteers. Her heartfelt wish for the Lunar New Year was simple yet profound: to return home and share a meaningful celebration with her mother. This deep connection to family and home is the very heart of wish granting.

The volunteers adorned the home with beautiful Lunar New Year decorations, creating a warm and festive atmosphere. A simple table at the room’s centre soon became the heart of a very special family moment. Ms Kwan Yu Ling, glowing in a crimson dress, had shown remarkable strength in her health journey, making this memorable wish experience all the more precious.

A Celebration of Joy and Togetherness

Her mother, typically a woman of few words, moved with visible joy and purpose. Her careful attention to detail—from preparing a thoughtful spread of food to setting out Ms Kwan Yu Ling’s favourite strawberry yogurt drink—spoke volumes of her deep affection.

The room quickly filled with warm conversation and laughter. As volunteers and family enjoyed delicate dim sum and delicious Awfully Chocolate cake, Ms Kwan Yu Ling’s cheerful laughter filled the air, creating a truly joyful atmosphere where happiness took centre stage.

Creating Precious Memories

As the celebration continued, the bond between mother and daughter shone brightly. When the time came for Ms Kwan Yu Ling to return, her mother held her hand warmly, savouring every moment of their precious time together.

Ms Kwan Yu Ling smiled radiantly, her expression reflecting the special joy of their reunion. As she departed, the vibrant red of her dress symbolised the love and warmth that had filled the room. The gathering created beautiful memories that will be cherished forever. This special day celebrated Ms Kwan Yu Ling’s wonderful spirit and the powerful love between a mother and daughter, made possible through the support of caring volunteers who helped create this meaningful wish granting experience.
