A Journey Home: Mdm Roslina’s Wish

What matters most at life’s threshold is not wealth or achievement, but the profound need to be surrounded by love and familiarity. This was beautifully embodied in the wish of Mdm Roslina, who at 48-years-old, lives with Alexander Disease, a rare condition that has limited her mobility but never dimmed her spirit. This longing for home underscores the deep emotional value of wish granting.

When Ambulance Wish Singapore (AWS) volunteers Charlotte, Chek Hao, and Kong Hoe met her, Mdm Roslina shared a heartfelt longing: to return to her family home, a place filled with cherished memories and the warmth of those she holds dearest. The team set out to deliver a truly memorable wish experience.

A Long-Awaited Homecoming

On the warm afternoon of 2 April 2025, Mdm Roslina’s wish came true. What might have seemed a simple ambulance transfer became a meaningful journey back to love and belonging. As she crossed the threshold of her home, she was welcomed by family dressed in her favourite colour, yellow, a theme that radiated throughout the space with sunny blooms, floating balloons, and a cheerful Tweety Bird cake.

A Radiant Welcome Filled with Love

The home stirred with life and laughter as family portraits were taken, and a touching video tribute played. A generous spread of finger food, lovingly prepared by her mother and supplemented by the AWS team, brought comfort and warmth to the gathering.

A special highlight was a live performance by a rock band, featuring beloved Malay rock classics from the 80s. The music filled the room with nostalgia and joy, bringing everyone together in song. Throughout it all, Mdm Roslina smiled, watching her loved ones share in the happiness of the day.

A Memory Etched in the Heart

When the time came to return, the room was filled with palpable emotion, a mixture of gratitude, love, and the quiet strength of a family united. In those precious hours, what mattered was not illness or limitation, but the love that surrounded Mdm Roslina; a love that will remain long after the day itself.

Ambulance Wish Singapore was deeply honoured to help bring Mdm Roslina home, if only for an afternoon, and to witness the power of love, memory, and homecoming through this final act of wish granting.
