We had the honour of fulfilling Mr Tan’s heartfelt wish of celebrating Chinese New Year with his family over the meaningful tradition of tossing yusheng. This salad is a cultural and communal dish, meant to be shared and aimed at bringing good luck for the year ahead.
Mr and Mrs Tan steadfast come what may
Surrounded by loved ones across generations, Mr Tan was at the heart of the gathering. As his children and family members gently held their father’s hand, it was a quiet yet powerful expression of love, reassurance, and togetherness.
The tossing of yusheng symbolised hopes for good health, prosperity, and unity in the year ahead. More than the festive tradition, it was the warmth of family, shared smiles, and precious moments of connection that made the reunion truly meaningful.
The volunteers — Caral, Ethan, Jack, and Jie Ning — are honoured to have played a part in making this cherished family reunion possible.
