What began as a conversation at Assisi Hospice blossomed into a heartwarming journey across Singapore’s southern waters
Mr Choy’s eyes brightened at the suggestion of a yacht trip, recalling fond memories of a previous outing for his brother’s birthday. The volunteer team, Suyi, Carol, Brendon, Sher Maine and Ethan coordinated with Ximula Sail and medical partners to make this dream a reality. With careful planning that accounted for weather conditions and health considerations, the perfect Sunday evening slot was secured for the adventure.
A Sunset to Remember
On the day of the wish, despite earlier rain showers, the skies cleared as Mr Choy arrived at the yacht club with assistance from Caring Hearts Nursing and Medical Assistance 4U’s specialist transport. Positioned at the yacht’s bow, he enjoyed panoramic views while savouring his favourite foods including pizza, fish soup and Coca-Cola. Volunteer Sher Maine’s violin melodies provided the perfect musical accompaniment to the picturesque sunset.
Mr Choy’s maritime knowledge shone through as he pointed out various vessels and shared stories of his youth as a lifeguard. Passing Lazarus Island sparked nostalgic memories of test driving vehicles on its rugged terrain. The experience culminated in precious family photographs capturing joyful moments against the stunning sea backdrop.
