AWS was privileged to bear witness to the endearing family love engulfing 59year old Mdm Lee during a recent staycation at the Intercontinental Hotel. After an introductory call with the family we tailored a program for Mdm Lee taking into consideration her passion for majong, favorite food, and a request for a family portrait and staycation. An impromptu request just before the staycation was efficiently handled by the kind people at ‘share a cut’ who made a house call for the hair cut & made Mdm Lee look all the more refreshed for the occasion. This helped to not only boost morale but also built a sense of anticipation for all at home.
In keeping with Mdm Lee’s passion for the game, AWS arranged for a majong themed cake complete with auspicious majong tiles and ‘gold-coins’ which our cake sponsor, Lele Bakery generously contributed. AWS volunteer, Jo-ann also carefully placed ‘majong tiled’ and durian cushions on Mdm Lee’s hotel bed for that bit of cheer. We were ‘secretly smug’ that the durian plushies circumvented Intercontinental’s ‘no durian’ policy!
It was a galore of delightful surprises as the family car pulled into the Intercontinetnal hotel into a special parking lot on top of thoughtful gestures such as wheelchair friendly rooms and connecting rooms for the family of six. The mood was palpable as the family was swiftly taken into a beautifully ‘made-up’ guestroom replete with adorable tongue in cheek plushies. Designated photographer, Watson went to work quickly setting up lighting and props as the family fussed over Mdm Lee for the portraits. Looking at the photos it was clear that Watson did more than recording the event but also the warmth of the family radiated through those pictures
Dinner was up next with a private room reserved for the family; the majong cake and the AWS bear next to the cake prompted many spontaneous cheers of ‘huat ah’ and added the light hearted touch to the dinner. Though she couldn’t eat much; being surrounded by those who loved her and bonding through the meal was heartwarming to witnesss. With an entourage of family members and photographer caputuring precious interactive moments; Mdm Lee was truly being honored that evening.
In carrying out this wish, AWS was privileged to have been given a glimpse into the warmth and nurturing love of Mdm Lee’s family; we think that this outpouring of love, care and concern for her is a reflection of the immense love this beautiful wife and mother of three loving daughters has showered through the years.
We thank the family for the opportunity and also wish to acknowledge the kindness and generorsity of Share a cut ; who refreshed Mdm Lee with a trendy haircut, Lele Bakery who generously sponsored and baked the cake at such short notice, Watson who singlehandedly carried his equipment and created such beautiful portraits of the family and AWS volunteer Jo-ann, Hui sing and team who went the extra mile to plan the many special moments in the wish which we are sure the family will cherish for years to come.
