On Sunday, 4 May 2025, the GV Max cinema at VivoCity was filled with warmth, laughter, and a sense of shared purpose as volunteers from Ambulance Wish Singapore (AWS) hosted a special event celebrating the launch of Dear Inmates: Daily Emails to Prisoners, a heartfelt book by Dr. Roger Tan.

AWS Wish Team – Lionel, Grace, Gina, May, Caral, and Lin Xin – gathered early to transform the venue into a welcoming environment, ready for the celebration ahead.

The occasion brought together Roger’s family, friends, and professional associates who gathered to honor the powerful message behind the book. Dear Inmates, a collection of daily emails written to prisoners, reflected Roger’s unwavering belief in second chances, human dignity, and the power of consistent kindness.

Roger autographed books, penned words of gratitude, and thanked individuals and communities that inspired and sustained his mission. Every note reflected his deep appreciation to everyone who stood by him throughout his journey and battles with liver cancer. Each book is a keepsake of encouragement, resilience, and shared humanity. The book launch was indeed a celebration of hope, the power of connection, and creating memorable shared experiences.

Adding to the spirit of giving and inclusivity, children from Club Rainbow were specially invited to enjoy a screening of Marvel Superhero: Thunderbolts – an exciting film that brought joy and excitement to their day.

As the lights dimmed for the movie and smiles lit up the theater, it was clear that the impact of kindness—both on the page and in real life—was being deeply felt by the 400 guests in attendance.
